The new owner of a South Abington Twp. property, which previously housed several restaurants, plans to consider different uses for the space, but hasn’t ruled out another restaurant.
Moosic-based 821 Northern Blvd. LLC purchased the property at 821 Northern Blvd. from Clarks Summit-based Goldbrick Investments LLC for $1.65 million, according to a deed recorded Friday in Lackawanna County.
Michael Ruane II, owner of the Prescription Center on Cherry Street in Scranton, aims to lease the property and said he’s had some initial conversations.
“I’ve received a lot of interest already from a range of prospective tenants, including national retailers, medical practices and some regional restaurant operators,” Ruane said. “The property allows for a variety of permitted uses, including drive-thru service, and I look forward to continuing discussions with interested parties.”
At least five restaurateurs have occupied the property within the last two decades: Bennigan’s Irish American Grill & Bar, Charlie’s Pub & Eatery, La Tonalteca, Guytano’s Tuscan Chophouse and Echo.
South Abington Twp. Manager JoAnn Pane said no formal plans for the property were submitted to the township as of Monday, but noted she’s also been contacted by several people.
