EASTON, Pa. – A popular bakery, known for its unique assortment of sweet and savory treats, is making moves in Northampton County.

Pie + Tart, a small-batch, urban bakery specializing in pies and tarts, is planning to reopen within the next couple of weeks at its new, larger location at 349 Northampton St. in downtown Easton, co-owner Lisa Yelagin told 69 News on Monday.

Finishing touches are being put on the bakery’s new spot, located a few doors down from the Easton Public Market, and reopening details will be announced soon on the business’ Facebook and Instagram pages, Yelagin said.

“We are not entirely sure of a reopening date yet, but it will be soon,” Yelagin said. “It could possibly this week, but if not this week, definitely next week. It’s very exciting. We’ll be pumping the date out on social media as soon as we know.”

In the meantime, Pie + Tart is accepting Thanksgiving orders, with pick-up scheduled for Nov. 26.

Holiday options include turkey dinner pithivier, pumpkin pie, apple crumb pie, bourbon brown butter pecan pie and gluten-free Nantucket pie.

“We are, as ever, grateful for everyone’s patience and so excited to welcome everyone back,” Yelagin and her partner, Anne Gerr, announced on the business’ Facebook page.

Pie + Tart temporarily closed in October to allow Yelagin and Gerr to transition the business from its original location of seven years at 444 Northampton St. in downtown Easton to its new, much larger location – roughly a block away – at 349 Northampton St.

“After saying for seven years that we will never move, that the tiny pie hole is perfect for us…. We are moving!” Yelagin and Gerr announced in September.

“To 349 Northampton St, a location big enough to support our new vision for Pie+Tart: with seating inside and out, with a retail area to support your home pie baking, with an area for children to play in, with a HUGE kitchen to grow into, big enough for a whole new dream.”

Gerr and Yelagin met in 2018 at a former shared commercial kitchen, Common Space, in downtown Easton.

The bakers’ had brought their individual concepts – Yelagin operated Two in Hand Pie Cafe & Milk Bar and Gerr operated Mediterranean concept Tart – to Common Space, and the pair eventually decided to join forces at their own brick-and-mortar location a few blocks away.

At Pie + Tart, selections rotate with recent savory options including cottage pie, shepherd’s pie, sausage rolls, Thai chicken curry pies, steak and mushroom pies, lemon and herb chicken pot pie, quiche Lorraine, quiche with spinach and gouda, ratatouille tart, caprese strudel, Southern tomato pie with biscuit crust and quiche with sausage, caramelized onions and mixed cheese.

One of Yelagin’s most popular creations is a “two in hand pie,” which is savory on one end and sweet on the other.

Some of Pie + Tart’s recent sweet selections include bananas Foster cream pie, apple and rhubarb pie, Arizona lemon tart brulee, nectarine blueberry pie, pear frangipane tart, peach and blueberry galette, peach custard pie, strawberry rhubarb cobbler pie, sour cream lemon pie and nectarine and plum cobbler pie.

The shop also offers gluten-free selections such as peach cobbler and roasted sweet potato, gruyere cheese and brown butter sage leaves in a crushed potato base.

Individuals can shop Pie + Tart’s most up-to-date offerings online.

“Our goal, after 5+ years of finding our groove, is to keep our little pie world sustainable, growing only in such a way that maintains and nourishes all the things that are important to us: our customers, our families, and our pies,” reads a message on Pie + Tart’s website.

“What we do may be relatively simple, but it is not easy. It is absolutely a labor of love, of conviction, and comes from a desire to add something real to our, and everyone’s, day. We look forward every morning to making every customer’s day more delicious, more fun, and a bit easier.”
