The industry supported more than 521,000 jobs statewide and welcomed 206.2 million visitors, who spent $51.6 billion across the Commonwealth during the year.

The findings come from the PA Tourism 2025 Economic Report, which shows increases in both visitation and visitor spending compared to the previous year. Across Pennsylvania, visitor volume rose by 2.3%, while visitor spending increased by 3.5% year-over-year.

Locally, Erie County remained a significant contributor to the state’s tourism economy. Visitors spent $1.15 billion in the county during 2025, while the tourism industry supported approximately 15,000 jobs and generated $113.4 million in state and local tax revenue.

Although visitor spending in Erie County was essentially flat compared to 2024, officials noted that the comparison comes against an unusually strong year fueled by increased travel tied to the Total Solar Eclipse, which boosted lodging demand throughout the region.

“The most encouraging takeaway from this year’s report is the continued strength of Erie County’s visitor economy,” said Mark Jeanneret, president and CEO of VisitErie. “Even when compared to a historic year that included the Total Solar Eclipse, Erie County maintained $1.15 billion in visitor spending and steady visitation levels. Tourism continues to be Erie County’s third-largest industry and a significant driver of local jobs, business activity, and tax revenue.”

The report underscores tourism’s ongoing role as a major economic driver for both Pennsylvania and Erie County, supporting businesses, employment opportunities, and public revenue throughout the region.
