Ogak died on August 10th after suffering injuries in an alleged domestic violence incident on July 26th in the 600 block of East 13th Street. The vigil is giving community members a chance to honor her life and stand together against violence.

Earlier today, we spoke with Benedictine Sister Jacqueline Sanchez-Small about the recent tragedies Erie has faced and why she says these difficult conversations are ones our community needs to have more often.

A life lost, a community left grieving, and a heartbreaking reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence.

What began as an alleged assault on July 26th ended in tragedy on August 10th, when 38-year-old Victoria Ogak died from her injuries. The man accused in the case, Sabri Bol, now faces a homicide charge. As the community gathers to remember Victoria Ogak, the man charged in connection with her death, Sabri Bol, remains in the Erie County Prison, just behind me. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 12th.
