Republican gubernatorial candidate Stacy Garrity toured Lancaster Avenue Plaza in Reading, discussing her plans to address inflation, support businesses, and promote economic growth as part of her statewide “Turn Around PA” tour.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Stacy Garrity visited Lancaster Avenue Plaza in Reading, where she toured local businesses and shared her plans to tackle inflation and grow the economy.
Garrity visited shops such as the Ideal Food Basket and the American Barber and Beauty Academy, emphasizing her goal of putting money back in people’s pockets.
“I am on the side of small businesses and I always will be,” she said.
Garrity met with business owners like George Ortiz, who opened his own beauty school.
“Dream goes back a long way. I started off as a barber,” Ortiz said.
Garrity explained her support for skill games, which she believes help businesses, veterans clubs, and fire stations by generating revenue.
“This money from skill games was allowing them to help upgrade their equipment,” Garrity said. She promised to bring the machines back if elected.
“If I’m the governor? Yes, if he’s a governor. Absolutely not. Because they’ve had two years to do this and they haven’t done anything. What would change,” Garrity said.
She also addressed the debate over data center development, promising to find a compromise on their placement.
“Where should they be located? Not near residential areas, not on our precious farmland,” Garrity said.
Garrity concluded her visit with a message about leadership and accountability.
“Pennsylvania can be so much more, but that we do need leadership, accountability and putting Pennsylvania families first,” she said.
This stop in Reading is one of several on Garrity’s “Turn Around PA” statewide tour. She is scheduled to make an appearance in Mechanicsburg on Friday.
