The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office has charged the 75-year-old, Fredrick Arnold, with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and other related offenses after they say he shot his wife multiple times in Oxford Circle.

PHILADELPHIA – Investigators say a woman is recovering after she was shot in the head and mouth by her husband overnight inside a rowhome in Philadelphia.

The backstory:

Philadelphia police officers were called to the 1300 block of Hale Street in the city’s Oxford Circle section late Sunday just before midnight.

Investigators say a 52-year-old was shot twice times, including in her head and mouth, by her 75-year-old husband. 

The victim was taken to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital where she remains in critical but stable condition. 

The husband was taken into custody at the scene, according to investigators.

What we know:

The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office has charged the 75-year-old, Fredrick Arnold, with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and other related offenses. 

The court set Arnold’s bail at $1.5 million, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 21. 

The DAO’s Victim Services Unit is partnering with Woman Against Abuse to support the victim and her family during this difficult time. 

What we don’t know:

Details about the motive behind the shooting have not been disclosed.
