Tennis players continue their postseason with the final district championship tournament that starts Thursday morning.

The District 2 Doubles Championships in Class 3A and 2A start at 9 a.m. at Kirby Park and Wilkes University. The district singles players who won gold medals, Montrose’s Cara Evans and Abington Heights’ Sona Hanumali, Monday are not eligible for the doubles tournament.

The winners advance to the semifinals and finals that are scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. at Kirby Park.

Teams representing Lackawanna League programs earned all eight seeds for the Class 3A tournament. They will receive byes into the second round.

Abington Heights’ pairing of Amishi Amit and Sammy Rosenstein is the No. 1 seed. Amit finished as the runner-up to Hanumali in the singles tournament, and Rosenstein played at No. 3 singles and helped the Lady Comets to the District 2 Class 3A team championship.

Valley View’s team of Ella Swingle and Josie Checho earned the No. 2 seed. Abington Heights’ second team of Katie Arp and Elsie Phillips, which played at No. 1 doubles all season, is seeded third. West Scranton’s Nora Frounfelker and Nina Emiliani, a team that is 24-8 over the last two seasons at No. 1 doubles, are seeded fourth.

Wallenpaupack’s Victoria Latek-Addy Ezzo is seeded fifth after helping the Lady Buckhorns reach the District 2 Class 3A team final against Abington Heights. West Scranton’s second pairing of Katie Fahey and Julia Farkaly, the two players who competed at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, is seeded sixth. North Pocono’s team of Anna Clementoni and Cam Forgione is the No. 7 seed, and Delaware Valley’s team of Emma Strickler and Josephine Lordi is the eighth seed.

In Class 2A, Scranton Prep’s two semifinalists in the singles tournament will join forces. Lily Lengyel, the runner-up, and Emma Cuck earned the No. 1 seed.

Montrose’s pairing of Anna Evans, a semifinalist and Cara Evans’ sister, and Erin Tillotson, the No. 3 singles player for the Lady Meteors, is seeded second.

Wyoming Seminary’s team of Addison Priebe and Cece Pons is the No. 3 seed. Dallas’ team of Catlin Finn and Mahi Dhol is seeded fourth.

MMI Prep’s team of Ava Gennetti and Mehak Manzour is seeded fifth. Scranton Prep’s second doubles team of Adithi Velaga and Hannah LaCoe is seeded sixth. Wyoming Area’s team of Emma Kratz and Molly Kratz is the No. 7 seed, and Wyoming Seminary’s team of Kate Minella and Jophie Li is the No. 8 seed.
