A large-scale vinyl record sale event is spinning its way back into Erie again at the Quality Inn on Perry Highway.

After seeing the success from the show that took place in Erie in March, Stephen Gritzan, organizer of Record Riot, said he loves Erie and sees the appreciation for this event.

“We love to be back,” Gritzan said. “I personally love the show as the people are nice and grateful to have us back. We appreciate the appreciation.”

The show, which boasts more than 10,000 LPs in one room, will take place on Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will include early admission options and is expected to bring 20 vendors selling different genres of vinyl records and CDs.

What music options will I find at Record Riot?

Gritzen said that it’s like the Record Riot event is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get next.

Customers at Record Riots will find genres from country to classic rock to reggae and more with multiple artist options.

Record Riot returns to the Quality Inn at 8040 Perry Highway on Nov. 15.

“It’s very diverse pickings,” Gritzen said. “From Tyler, the Creator to Taylor Swift to Beyonce to James Brown to Miles Davis to Michael Jackson. Then you have the rock genre from The Beatles to The Rolling Stones. It really runs the gamut, but we really don’t know who is bringing what.”

Gritzen said individual music taste is what makes these shows fun since patrons will find a wide variety of music.

CDs are trending

Back in 2020, and for the first time since the 1980s, vinyl record sales were outgrowing CDs and music streaming services.

Gritzen said he thinks the trend has shifted to CDs today because of lower prices.

“The big news of 2025 is that records are very popular and we sell a lot of them, but we actually sell more CDs now,” Gritzen said. “So it makes the show interesting.”

At Record Riots, select vendors have CDs available for purchase.

What is Record Store Black Friday?

Another big event that record stores across the nation are celebrating this month is Record Store Black Friday 2025.

On Nov. 28, the Record Store Day organization has decided to celebrate independently owned record stores.

On this day, record stores across the country will be selling exclusive records that are only released at indie record stores. These stores will also have first gets on titles that can also be found at other retailers to help support their small business.

In Erie, Graham’s Records at 613 W. 26th St. will be partaking in the event. The full list of stores associated with Record Store Day can be found on recordstoreday.com/venues.

These independent stores will also carry small run or regional titles which are regionally based and sold at specific stores or are press runs under 1,000 which means they are harder to find across the country.

The specific titles for what could be in store for Record Store Black Friday can be found on the special releases section of recordstoreday.com. Some of the most anticipated releases include reissues and special limited editions by Bob Dylan, Prince & The Revolution, Talking Heads, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Chappell Roan, Grateful Dead, Miles Davis, Alice Cooper, T-Bone Walker and more.
