BERKS COUNTY, Pa. – A hot dog shop in Maidencreek Township is serving up a dish with lots of holiday cheer.

“We actually have the community help us come up with a name,” said Rebecca Gomez of UpDog Hot Dogs.

“I’ll do cranberry, we have our potato stuffing, little bit of gravy and last, but certainly not least, some crispy fried onion on top and there she is: The Franksgiving Dog,” Rebecca said.

“It has a little of everything that you think of when you picture Thanksgiving, to give it that full on holiday bite and just have that flavor in there that we can picture the holidays,” she added.

At UpDog Hot Dogs, Rebecca and Julian Gomez are getting creative while whipping up unforgettable flavors.

“A lot of times, these ideas come from her in the middle of the night and then, and then it kicks off to the test kitchen. And I’m one of the testers. As you can see, I’m ready for Thanksgiving already,” said Julian.

Because what may at times sound odd, may become your new favorite.

“And when they take the first bite, you see the reaction in their eyes. I’m like, ‘yes, they like it!’,” Julian said.

And it’s not just hot dogs.

Parma Pizza in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County gives pizza a Thanksgiving makeover with a seasonal offering known as “The Gobbler.”

“We’ve been perfecting it every day. Stuffing, turkey, little mashed potatoes, gravy, and we serve it with a side of cranberry sauce,” said owner Louis Walter.

It’s been around for about 20 years and always gets a reaction.

“Most are like, mouth dropped or wow that’s like a whole meal in itself, not sure if they can handle it kind of thing,” said Lynn Walter, owner.

The owners say The Gobbler is a hot seller, and they enjoy coming up with original offerings.

“All the time we’re trying to create. It’s just kind of our thing here. People come in looking for different stuff on our counter every day,” Lynn added.
