READING, Pa. – It was a class trip that aimed to inspire.
Third graders enjoyed the sounds of the Reading Symphony Orchestra (RSO) today when they visited the Santander Performing Arts Center for a special performance.
We’re told about 1,400 students from six school districts attended.
Organizers say their annual student concert is all about inspiring the next generation of musicians.
“We like to have 3rd graders come because a lot of schools start their string players in 3rd grade and maybe their band players in 4th grade. So, we like to really spark that interest of music for 3rd graders and invite them,” said David Himes, education director of RSO.
Members of The Berks Ballet accompanied the orchestra.
