One person has been displaced after a fire broke out at a home on Erie’s east side Wednesday night.
Calls went out for a multiresidential structure fire around 10:06 pm Wednesday in the 700 block of East 12th Street.

Erie firefighters said heavy smoke and flames were coming from the unoccupied second floor of the building and were on scene for roughly three hours before the all clear was given.

The person living on the first floor of the building escaped unharmed with their pet, but water damage and utilities being shut off led to them being displaced.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
