New parking options announced ahead of grand opening for new airport terminal

TO ACCESS THE NEW AIRPORT TERMINAL, THE AIRPORT AUTHORITY BUILT A BRAND NEW ROADWAY THAT’S OFF TO THE RIGHT, AND THEN IT CURVES TO THE LEFT TO GO TOWARDS THE TERMINAL. AND AT THE SAME TIME, THEY’RE KEEPING THE EXISTING PARKING LOT. THEY WILL USE SHUTTLE BUSSES TO TAKE PEOPLE FROM THE PARKING LOT OVER TO THE NEW TERMINAL. AND WE’RE GOING TO SHOW YOU HOW TO GET IN. WHEN DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP PASSENGERS, STAY TO THE RIGHT AND FOLLOW NEW SIGNAGE FOR EITHER OPTION. TRAVELERS USING THE NEW TERMINAL PARKING GARAGE WILL STAY TO THE LEFT. THIS IS THE ENTRANCE TO THE NEW TERMINAL PARKING GARAGE. OVERALL, WE FEEL THAT THIS TERMINAL GARAGE IS WITH OUR SMART TECHNOLOGY IS THE MOST CONVENIENT PARKING OPTION GIVEN THE PROXIMITY OF THE TERMINAL AND THE FEATURES THAT IT HAS WITHIN. FOR OUR TRAVELING PUBLIC HERE IN PITTSBURGH. IT HAS 3300 PARKING SPACES. GREEN LIGHTS INDICATE WHICH ROADS HAVE AVAILABLE SPACES AND HOW MANY BLUE LIGHTS INDICATE AVAILABLE HANDICAP SPACES, AND EACH PARKING LEVEL HAS CHARGING STATIONS FOR ANY OF OUR SPACES THAT ARE OPEN AND AVAILABLE. THIS HELPS TO EXPEDITE THAT PASSENGER JOURNEY TO FIND THAT OPEN SPACE, ELEVATORS AND STAIRS TAKE PASSENGERS FROM THE PARKING GARAGE TO A WALKWAY AT GROUND LEVEL, WHERE CAR RENTAL COUNTERS ARE LOCATED. IT’S LESS THAN A FIVE MINUTE WALK TO THE TERMINAL, JUST A SHORT WALK AWAY FROM THE ARRIVALS LEVEL. THAT PASSENGER CONVENIENCE TO US IS INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT. ALSO, NEXT TO THE TERMINAL IS THE SURFACE TERMINAL PARKING LOT, WHICH IS UNCOVERED, AND THIS WILL BECOME THE SHUTTLE LOT. CURRENTLY, IT IS EXTENDED AND LONG TERM PARKING, BUT THAT CHANGES TUESDAY. FIVE SHUTTLE STATIONS, EACH EQUIPPED WITH LIVE INFORMATION SCREENS, HEAT AND CALL BUTTONS. IT’S A TEN MINUTE RIDE TO THE TERMINAL ON SHUTTLE BUSSES. PASSENGERS WILL NOT HAVE THE OPTION TO WALK FROM THE SHUTTLE LOT WHEN THE TERMINAL OPENS TUESDAY. MORE THAN 21,000 PARKING SPACES WILL BE AVAILABLE. Travelers departing from the new Pittsburgh International Airport terminal now have three new parking options.Options include the new five-story terminal parking garage, which holds 3,300 parking spaces and is equipped with smart technology.Each row of the garage uses red and green lights to communicate with drivers as to how many parking spaces are available in each row.Multiple charging stations are on each level, as well as Pittsburgh-themed wayfinding symbols and signage to remind travelers where they parked.What is currently long-term and extended parking will become the shuttle lot, with five new shuttle stations, each equipped with live information boards, phones and call buttons.A new surface terminal lot will also be available next to the garage, both less than a five-minute walk to the terminal.Pre-pay options are available for all three parking areas, with each having its own price point.Parking rates can be found at flypittsburgh.com.
