How they got here: Hollidaysburg defeated DuBois, 25-24, in the District 6-8-9-10 Subregional final. Delaware Valley rallied to beat Abington Heights, 27-24, in the District 2 Class 5A championship game.

Up next: The winner advances to the PIAA Class 5A quarterfinals on either Nov. 21 or Nov. 22 to play the winner of the 12-1 Roman Catholic (8-3) vs. 11-1 Whitehall (10-2) first-round game.

The buzz: Delaware Valley won its ninth District 2 championship in the last 10 years since the PIAA increased to six classifications. It is the third title in Class 5A for the Warriors. Hollidaysburg defeated Abington Heights, 24-23, in last season’s PIAA first round. Hollidaysburg averages 43.8 points per game and gives up 12.1 points per game. Both teams played Jersey Shore this season. Hollidaysburg beat Jersey Shore, 52-7, and Delaware Valley lost to the Bulldogs, 49-42. Hollidaysburg RB Carter Muth had 278 yards rushing and three touchdowns last week against DuBois.  Hollidaysburg is ranked No. 7 in Class 5A by Pennlive.com.

2-1 North Pocono (12-0) at 1-1 Bishop Shanahan (8-4)

How they got here: North Pocono defeated Dallas, 38-6, in the District 2 Class 4A final. Bishop Shanahan upset Pope John Paul II, 42-21, in the District 1 championship game.

Up next: The winner advances to the PIAA Class 4A quarterfinals on Nov. 21 or Nov. 22 to play the winner of the District 12 championship game between Cardinal O’Hara (8-4) and West Philadelphia (4-5).

The buzz: North Pocono is the District 2 Class 4A champion for the first time since 2016 and is 12-0 for the first time since 1991. Bishop Shanahan entered the District 1 playoffs on a three-game losing streak, but beat Interboro, 38-7, and Pope John Paul II, 42-21. Bishop Shanahan defeated Valley View, 35-25, in the PIAA Class 4A playoffs in 2021. Bishop Shanahan averages 34.3 points per game and gives up an average of 17.8 points per game. Bishop Shanahan QB Anthony Aquila ran for 282 yards and three touchdowns, and RB Nate Bracken had 111 yards rushing and a touchdown last week in the District 1 championship game. North Pocono is ranked No. 6 and Bishop Shanahan is No. 10 in the latest Class 4A state top 10 by Pennlive.com.

2-1 Scranton Prep (7-5) vs. 4-1 Mifflinburg (10-2)

How they got here: Scranton Prep defeated previously undefeated Berwick, 42-7, in the District 2 Class 3A championship game. Mifflinburg defeated Montoursville, 35-12, in the District 4 Class 3A championship game.

The buzz: Scranton Prep has won five straight District 2 Class 3A championships. Mifflinburg won its first District 4 championship since 2002. Scranton Prep outscored Wyoming Area and Berwick, 84-7, in the District 2 Class 3A playoffs as the No. 3 seed. Mifflinburg lost to District 6 champion Hollidaysburg, 49-14, and Southern Columbia, 21-14, during the regular season. Mifflinburg averages 41.8 points per game and gives up 13.3 points per game. QB Chad Marton ran for 67 yards and 3 touchdowns, and threw for 156 yards and a touchdown last week in the District 4 championship game. Mifflinburg is ranked No. 7, and Scranton Prep is a team to watch in Class 3A by Pennlive.com.
