The Erie School Board is reviewing a formal proposal to rename Harding Elementary School in honor of Colonel John Boyd, an Erie native, Harding and Strong Vincent alumnus, and renowned U.S. Air Force strategist whose ideas have influenced military and business strategy worldwide.
No decision has been made. In line with Board Policy 701.1, the district will host a public information session on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 6:00 p.m. at Harding Elementary. The session will outline the review process and provide details about the proposal.
Community members—including parents, staff, and alumni—are invited to attend, share feedback, and express interest in serving on the Naming Review Committee, which will evaluate the proposal and gather input before making a recommendation to the board.
