ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Young kids in Allentown are honoring the life and legacy of a civil rights activist.

Students at Ruby Bridges Early Childhood Center spent the day on Friday honoring the courage of Ruby Bridges.

She’s the first African-American child to de-segregate an all-white elementary school in 1960.

The kids made “Brave Like Ruby” hats, contributed to a mural, and did other hands-on activities honoring her.

Friday’s celebration was part of the National Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day.
