BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — Bensalem Police have arrested 17 men so far this year for soliciting sex with minors, child pornography possession, and other related offenses, officials said Tuesday.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Public Safety Director William McVey provided an update on the police department’s Internet Crimes Against Children investigations and arrests so far this year.

The 17 men add to a tally that is at nearly 50 arrests over three years, McVey said.

McVey said that many of the suspects have been charged with felony charges for seeking sex with a minor and child pornography possession. They have come from throughout the state, including a recent incident involving a Bethlehem man, and from New Jersey and Maryland as well.

Of the arrests, McVey said six were for possession or distribution of child pornography, five were for soliciting sex with a minor, and six were for soliciting sex and traveling for sex with a minor.

Those arrested never met a minor, McVey said. Instead, police officers were waiting for them at homes and hotels.

McVey said police have received numerous cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, and the FBI.

“These arrests are the result of tireless investigative work,” McVey stated. “Our officers are dedicated to tracking down offenders who use technology to exploit children. There are no jurisdictional boundaries for child predators; they can victimize our children from anywhere, and we will continue to hold them accountable and keep our children safe.”

McVey also urged parents to “remain vigilant” about their children’s internet use, monitor online communications, and report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement immediately.

Anyone with information regarding child exploitation or online solicitation of minors should contact the Bensalem Police Department at 215-633-3719 or submit a tip online through the department’s website.
