Bencie, Cecilia Marie, 97, Windber, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on November 14, 2025 at Arbutus Park Manor. Born September 21, 1928 in Windber, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Matthew and Katherine (Burda) Klena. Preceded in death by husband, Stephen N. Bencie, who passed away on December 11, 2018. Also preceded in death by sister, Mary; brother, Steve; infant brother, Stefan; and nieces, Cecilia and Priscilla. 

Cecilia and Stephen were married in Windber on June 28, 1952. Cecilia was the loving mother of Dr. David Bencie married to Lori; Kathleen married to Paul Danel; and Stephen Bencie married to Roseann. She was the greatest grandma to her cherished grandchildren, Ryan and Breanne Danel; Matthew Bencie married to Mary Joy, and their daughter, Jemaica; Megan Bencie; Julia married to Jeremy Fischer; and Jessica Bencie; also by nephew, John Polasko Jr.

Cecilia was a 1946 graduate of Windber High School. She worked as a mail clerk, bookkeeper and secretary at Windber Eureka Store. She was a former member of the VFW ladies Auxiliary Post 4795, Windber Senior Center and Tops Club 765, St. Marys League. Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, summer picnics, bingo, casino trips and family beach vacations to the Outer Banks. Cecilia received a commemoration for voting 50 consecutive years in the general election and was inducted into the Somerset County Voter Hall of Fame. 

She was a devout Catholic, a former member of St. Marys RC Church and current member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church of Windber. Cecilia will be remembered for her never-ending compassion and care for her family and friends. Cecilia for ten decades was the heart and soul of the Bencie family and her love and sacrifices will always be cherished and appreciated.

The Bencie family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Monday November 24th at Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be celebrated 1:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Church with Fr. Rod. Committal to follow at All Faiths Chapel, with interment at St. Marys RC cemetery, Windber. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Arbutus Park Manor Benevolent Care or Windber Hospice.
