A man was killed by a masked gunman, police said, as he sat in his vehicle at a gas station in the Cedarbrook section of Philadelphia’s East Mount Airy neighborhood early Sunday.

According to Police Inspector D.F. Pace, the incident happened at about 3 a.m. on Sunday at a gas station located along the 2500 block of West Cheltenham Avenue in the Cedarbrook section of the East Mount Airy neighborhood.

Officers responding to a reported shooting at this gas station, Pace said, discovered a 22-year-old man sitting in the driver’s seat of a black Hyundai Sonata after he had been shot multiple times.

The man, Pace said, was pronounced at the scene.

Investigators said that the incident was captured on the gas station’s surveillance cameras, however.

In that footage, Pace said, a masked gunman, described as having a light colored, full-face mask and waring a dark t-shirt, and light-colored pants, can be seen walking up to the victim’s vehicle before firing multiple times into the car from a distance of about five yards away.

At the scene, investigators collected at least 10 spent shells, Pace said.

Also, Pace said, no arrests have yet been made and no motive has been determined in this incident, but he noted that it is early in the investigation.

An investigation into this incident, Pace said, is ongoing.
