A 70-year-old Scranton man is accused of repeatedly exposing himself to his neighbors through a window at his residence.
James Martorana, 538 Breck St., told officers that he stood naked in front of his window to relieve stress, according to a criminal complaint. The address is between Pittston Avenue and Lavelle Court.
Martorana said he enjoyed being nude and he didn’t see anything wrong with exposing himself, police said.
According to the criminal complaint:
At about 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 1, officers Michael Carroll and Olivia Muchal responded o Martorana’s residence for the report of a nude male in the window of a second-floor residence.
When officers arrived, they could see Martorana naked in the window and attempted to get his attention.
Officers signaled Martorana to meet them in the back of the house and he complied.
“We explained to Martorana, that even though he’s inside his residence, making it so the public can see him exposed like this and that can’t be happening,” police said in the complaint.
Officers told Martorana neighbors across the street believed he was trying to get the attention of their daughter when she visited, by jumping up and down naked in his window. The daughter, officers said, had a picture of him doing it.
Neighbor Dung Ly said he was especially worried because one of the neighbors was a pastor with children and he feared they might see Martorana naked.
Christy Golden, Ly’s wife, said she had asked Martorana to stop walking around naked and to cover up, but he hadn’t complied.
Martorana is charged with indecent exposure and open lewdness. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 15 before District Judge Joanne Corbett.
