ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Police in Allentown say a person is seriously injured after being shot in Allentown Monday afternoon.
Patrol officers with the Allentown Police Department responded to the area of North Morris and West Allen Streets for a report of a shooting around 4:42 p.m., according to a news release from the Allentown Police Department.
Officers found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds to the face and body, city police said.
Officers rendered first aid, and the person was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, according to the news release.
Police say the investigation is active and ongoing and there is no immediate threat or danger to the public at this time.
“I heard three shots. I heard the sirens and then I thought oh this is close. And then I happened to look out the door and I saw the firetrucks,” a neighbor tells 69 News.
“It’s very concerning. It’s really heartbreaking. A lot of families here. A lot of youth here,” says Jalen Richardson, the violence intervention and re-entry manager with Promise Neighborhoods of the Lehigh Valley.
He spoke with neighbors and says they are feeling a mix of emotions.
“I mean some heartbroken, some not really know what’s going on, trying to figure it out,” says Richardson.
