Blustery Monday, rain returns Tuesday in south-central Pennsylvania
Highs will stay below average, in the 40s over the next 3 days
WE’RE TAKING A LOOK AT OUR STORM TEAM LIVE RADAR NETWORK RIGHT NOW. AND THERE ARE A COUPLE OF BANDS OF SNOW SHOWERS TRYING TO MOVE INTO THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY. NOTHING THAT WOULD SLOW DOWN YOUR MORNING COMMUTE, BUT YOU COULD SEE A RAIN OR SNOW SHOWER IN PARTS OF MIFFLIN COUNTY, JUNIATA COUNTY, EVEN EVEN NORTHERN DAUPHIN COUNTY THIS MORNING. SO RIGHT NOW, THESE ARE BANDS OF LAKE EFFECT SNOW THAT ARE COMING ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES, BUT THEY’LL SHUT OFF OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS. THE BIG STORY TODAY REMAINS OUR WIND. THE WIND SPEEDS ARE GOING TO BE SUSTAINED 15 TO 25MPH THROUGH THE AFTERNOON, DIMINISHING FINALLY, LATE THIS EVENING. AND WIND GUSTS, THEY WILL NOT BE AS STRONG AS YESTERDAY, BUT WE COULD STILL HAVE SOME GUSTS AROUND 35MPH THROUGH THE FIRST HALF OF THE DAY. NEWS EIGHT STORM TEAM FORECAST CALLS FOR A MIX OF CLOUDS AND SUNSHINE DEVELOPING THIS MORNING. SOME OF YOU ARE CLEAR NOW, BUT THOSE CLOUDS WILL BUBBLE UP SHORTLY FOR THE AFTERNOON. 46 IS OUR HIGH, BLUSTERY COOLER THAN YESTERDAY AND IT’S GOING TO FEEL LIKE THE 30S ANYWAY. AND THEN THIS EVENING, A FEW CLOUDS STILL BRISK, BUT THE WINDS DO DIE DOWN TONIGHT. OVERNIGHT. MOSTLY CLEAR. CHILLY TEMPERATURES WILL FALL TO THE LOW 30S AS WINDS RELAX AND TOMORROW MORNING SUNSHINE THEN BECOMING CLOUDY WITH RAIN DEVELOPING AS WE HEAD TOWARD EVENING. THERE EVEN COULD BE A COUPLE OF FLAKES THAT MIX IN NORTH OF THE TURNPIKE TOMORROW EVENING, BUT WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE 40S, NO PROBLEMS FOR YOUR EVENING COMMUTE. HERE’S YOUR CURRENT. IT’S 37, IN LEWISTOWN, 37 IN LANCASTER, YORK AND GETTYSBURG, WHILE WE HAVE 40 IN HARRISBURG AND CARLISLE AND CHAMBERSBURG. YOU’RE ONE OF OUR WARMEST SPOTS, BUT ALSO ONE OF OUR WINDIEST SPOTS. IT’S 18MPH. THE SUSTAINED WIND IN CHAMBERSBURG THAT MAKES IT FEEL LIKE IT’S 32 DEGREES. SO KEEP THAT IN MIND AS YOU HEAD OUT. IT’S ALWAYS GOING TO FEEL COLDER THAN THE ACTUAL TEMPERATURE. READS TODAY, THANKS TO THE WIND STORM TEAM LIVE RADAR NETWORK. RIGHT NOW WE HAVE STRONG FLOW COMING RIGHT ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES, LAKE HURON, LAKE ERIE, ALL THE WAY INTO PENNSYLVANIA. THERE. THAT’S WHERE WE’RE GETTING THESE LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS FROM. AND YOU COULD SEE A FEW FLURRIES OR A FEW RAINDROPS MIXING IN DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE, ESPECIALLY NORTHWEST. BUT NOTICE AS THE WIND DIRECTION CHANGES LATER TODAY ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES, THOSE SNOW SHOWERS SHUT OFF. WE SHOULD SEE CLEARING SKIES AND MAINLY CLEAR CALMER CONDITIONS TONIGHT AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS TO OUR SOUTH. NOW. TOMORROW HIGH PRESSURE HITS THE ROAD. THE CLOUDS COME IN AND ANOTHER SYSTEM ZIPS BY TO OUR SOUTH. THAT’S GOING TO BRING IN RAIN BY EVENING TOMORROW. AND NOTICE THAT ELEVATION. THERE COULD BE A FEW FLAKES NORTH OF THE PA TURNPIKE, BUT THERE’S ALSO A VERY SHARP CUTOFF OF PRECIPITATION. SO TURNPIKE AND SOUTH LOOKS LIKE EVENING RAIN FOR YOU. NORTH COUPLE OF RAIN OR SNOW SHOWERS AND THEN THAT SYSTEM IS OFF TO OUR EAST WEDNESDAY. YOU’D THINK WE’D CLEAR OUT WITH HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING TO THE NORTH, BUT THESE CLOUDS ARE GOING TO HANG TOUGH ON WEDNESDAY, AND THAT’S GOING TO LOCK IN HIGHS IN THE 40S FOR US ON WEDNESDAY. SO AT LEAST IT WILL BE CALM. BUT IT CERTAINLY WILL BE CHILLY. PREDICTOR ESTIMATED RAINFALL TOTALS AGAIN A VERY SHARP CUT OFF FROM NORTH TO SOUTH RIGHT ALONG THE TURNPIKE THERE TURNPIKE AND SOUTH. YOU COULD PICK UP A 10TH OR TWO OF AN INCH OF RAIN NORTH. NOT MUCH. HERE’S THE TEN DAY FORECAST. WE HAVE 40S THE NEXT THREE DAYS. THEN WE TOUCH 50 ON THURSDAY. FOR FRIDAY, A FEW SHOWERS AS A WARM FRONT LIFTS NORTH. IT WILL BE MILDER 56 AND THEN WE STAY IN THE LOW 50S SATURDAY SUNDAY WITH INCREASED SUNSHINE, AND NEXT WEEK FOR THAT BIG TRAVEL WEEK AHEAD OF THANKSGI
