FISHTOWN (WPVI) — At Cake Life Bake Shop, Thanksgiving is the biggest holiday of the year.

There are 3 pies on the Thanksgiving menu -maple pecan pie, classic caramel apple, and a pumpkin pie topped with vanilla bean whipped cream and toasted pepitas.

The bakers are also whipping up cheesecakes, cupcakes and full-sized cakes along with biscuits, cornbread, sweet pastries and a sage, butternut squash, goat and leek quiche.

Cake Life pastry Chef and co-founder Lily Fischer says she’s always identified as an artist.

She was a music major in college, with plans of becoming a singer.

She was teaching pre-school when she first started baking in her late 20s, making cupcakes for school events,. Parents, she says, started asking her to make cupcakes for their kid’s birthday parties.

So she decided to ditch graduate school for culinary school.

She was then invited to compete on The Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, and she won.

At Cake Life, she and her team have famously baked a birthday cake for Beyonce…twice.

The bakery’s secret, Lily says, is simple-high quality ingredients coupled with the love and attention they put in to making edible art.

While they’re accepting Thanksgiving pre-orders through November 22nd, they will be open Thanksgiving morning, with lots of options for your last-minute sweet and savory needs.
