WYOMISSING, Pa. – The former Crowne Plaza Hotel in Wyomissing had plans back in September to begin upgrades under a new identity: the Reading Vitality Hotel.

However, The Berks County Blighted Property Review Committee delayed the project, giving the property owner more time to show progress.

Renovations were already underway, and more permits were in the process of being filed.

Regardless, borough officials remained cautiously optimistic and wanted to see visible construction before declaring a comeback.

The committee officially approved a motion to remove the property from the blighted property list on Tuesday.

Renovations have been slow, but the owners who are turning it into the Reading Vitality Hotel know they have more work to do and are committed to finishing it.

The owners will apply for permits to replace the HVAC system and other indoor work. They also plan on repairing cracks in the parking lot.

Along with the renovations, the owners hired security to patrol the property at night.
