Erie Bank brought its financial reality fair to Erie High School on Tuesday.

The event was made to promote a real-life budgeting scenario for high school students and prepare them for real-world events.

There were 15 stations set up from car payments to personal care to simulate to students how to handle their money.

Katie Jones is the regional president of Erie Banks; she said the goal was for students to walk away with practical skills for the future, while also having a bit of fun.

“All these things add up on a day-to-day basis, and I think it’s really important for students to learn how to budget and how these things impact their budget. Every decision that we make financially will impact what they’ve got left at the end of the month or what they’re out at the end of the month,” she said.

Jones said, along with routine stations like credit payments, there was also a station called the “Whammy Wheel,” where students will spin the wheel and see what random life event pops up to make them even more careful with their simulated money.

The event was projected to draw nearly 400 students across three different sessions throughout the day
