LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Public education-minded Lower Merion and Narberth residents are sought to serve on the Education Foundation of Lower Merion Board of Directors.

The Education Foundation of Lower Merion is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing and expanding enrichment opportunities for all students.

The foundation comprises community members, school district administrators, faculty/staff, and parents/guardians.

Its mission is to provide a vehicle for the entire Lower Merion community’s voluntary support of programs and activities enhancing the educational experience of all students, consistent with the mission of the Lower Merion School District.

The foundation strives to create a sense of belonging within the district and is reimagining its primary mission to provide enriching outdoor spaces and hands-on learning opportunities that benefit the entire community.

Sought is a diverse group of passionate and committed residents/stakeholders throughout Lower Merion and Narberth to join the Board of Directors, who will help the foundation:

Lead with Vision — Guide projects from conception to completion.Strengthen Our Community —Build connections and foster engagement across all schools and throughout the community.Secure Our Future — Expand fundraising efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability of the foundation’s work.

Ideal candidates have expertise in one or more of the following areas

Foundation board members play a vital role in establishing organizational policy, setting the strategic direction, providing financial oversight, ensuring the foundation remains focused on its mission and goals, and effective implementation of programs.

Directors are expected to be active participants in the life of the foundation by attending board functions, fundraising and planning, or attending other foundation events.

Additionally, board members will serve as goodwill ambassadors in the community, promoting the foundation’s work.

Members are expected to fulfill all legal and fiduciary responsibilities essential to the Foundation’s operations.

All board members serve 3-year terms, and the board regularly meets six times a year. Additional special meetings may be scheduled as needed throughout the year. Board members may resign at any time, for any or no reason.

It is critical to the foundation’s fundraising efforts that there be 100 percent board participation in annual giving. Every director is expected to make a personal, unrestricted gift of a personally significant amount.

Those who would like to support the foundation, but not on the board of directors, can join committees and/or volunteer for singular events.

Parents, guardians, teachers, school aides, district staffers, alumni, and community members who share a passion for creating incredible outdoor spaces and whose skills will benefit local students and community are invited to join the foundation.
