ALLENTOWN – The Phantoms are off to a strong start through their first 16 games – Lehigh Valley knocked off one of the top teams out of the AHL’s North Division, Rochester, last night 4-2.
The Phantoms sitting in third place in the always-competitive Atlantic Division, and enter this weekend amongst the best in the Eastern Conference – scoring 53 goals so far. They’ve got an edge to them as they head to second place Providence on Friday.
“Going into a weekend with two tough opponents to play against, it’s always good to get the two points early,” said forward Denver Barkey. “We got our work cut out for us. I think we’re just trying to prove ourselves right now. We want to prove ourselves to Providence, Hartford and all these top teams that we’re right there with them.”
