I see the Honda coming just across the street like normal, going eastbound on Penn. He hits the Honda, and I guess that’s when he flipped, because then he went careening into the Kia that was immediately to my right, which got knocked back into the Impala behind it. All of that happened immediately around me, and my car is untouched,” witness Jarred Reccek said.Pittsburgh police said nine people were treated or evaluated by EMS, with five being taken to the hospital. According to police, there were no critical injuries.Pittsburgh police said the driver will be facing charges. Wilkinsburg police and the ATF were also at the scene.Police have not identified the driver or said why the vehicle was initially pulled over by detectives. This is a developing story. Several police cars and ambulances were at the scene near Penn Avenue and East Swissvale Avenue. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 video showed one vehicle on its side.

Pittsburgh police said detectives were making a traffic stop at a different location when the driver of a black SUV fled. Officers did not chase the vehicle; police said that was in accordance with the department’s pursuit policy. Shortly afterward, officers found the crash.
