Two Pennsylvania state senators will help distribute 200 free turkeys to families in need Friday afternoon at an Allentown cathedral, just in time for Thanksgiving.

State Sens. Jarrett Coleman and Nick Miller will hand out the turkeys starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena, 1825 W. Turner St., Allentown.

The Diocese of Allentown is coordinating the event.

Jaindl Farms of Orefield donated the turkeys for the giveaway.

Families will also receive bags of food items from Catholic Charities, Diocese of Allentown.

“We are blessed with the support of Senators Coleman and Miller and the generosity of Jaindl Farms to make this food distribution possible,” Bishop Alfred A. Schlert said. “May God shine His light on all those in need of food, and on all those who help make this timely distribution possible.”

Coleman represents Pennsylvania’s 16th Senatorial District and Miller represents Pennsylvania’s 14th Senatorial District.

The distribution will continue until all turkeys have been claimed.
