Firefighters from throughout the Midvalley are on the scene of a house fire in Archbald.
Units were called shortly before 2 p.m. to 526 Main St. in the Eynon section for what was originally called an apartment fire. They eventually encountered heavy fire throughout the residential structure.
Reports through the Lackawanna County Communications Center indicated there were eight adults and five children in the building, all of whom were evacuated. The Red Cross was responding. There were also several pets in the house, according to reports.
Firefighters who had been battling the blaze inside the building were ordered to evacuate about 20 minutes after the initial call and operate on the exterior only.
