LOWER MERION — The Education Foundation of Lower Merion (“EFLM” or the “Foundation”) is looking for new members to join its governing Board of Directors.

Who We Are

The Education Foundation of Lower Merion is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing and expanding enrichment opportunities for all students, K-12. The Foundation is comprised of community members, school district administrators, faculty/staff, and parents/guardians.

Mission

The mission is to provide a vehicle for the entire Lower Merion community’s voluntary support of programs and activities enhancing the educational experience of all students, consistent with the mission of the Lower Merion School District (“LMSD”).

Our New Vision

The EFLM strives to create a sense of belonging within LMSD and is reimagining its primary mission to provide enriching outdoor spaces and hands-on learning opportunities that benefit the entire community.

Key Responsibilities

As a Board member of the EFLM, you will play a vital role in establishing organizational policy, setting the strategic direction, providing financial oversight, ensuring the Foundation remains focused on its mission and goals, and effective implementation of programs. Directors are expected to be active participants in the life of the EFLM by attending Board functions, fundraising and planning, or attending other EFLM events. Additionally, you will serve as a goodwill ambassador in the community, promoting the Foundation’s work. Board members are expected to fulfill all legal and fiduciary responsibilities essential to the Foundation’s operations.

Time Commitment

Board members serve a 3-year term.The Board of Directors regularly meets six times a year.Additional special meetings may be scheduled as needed throughout the year.Board members may resign at any time, for any or no reason.

Financial Commitment

It is critical to the EFLM fundraising efforts that there be 100% Board participation in annual giving. Every Director is expected to make a personal, unrestricted gift of a personally significant amount.Interested, but not sure you can dedicate the time to be on the board?

No problem! There are committees open to non-board members. You can also volunteer for singular events.If you are a parent/guardian, teacher, school aide or staffer, LMSD alumni or community member who shares our passion for creating incredible outdoor spaces and whose skills will benefit our students and community, we invite you to join the Foundation.
