Upper Darby firefighters quickly handled a kitchen fire that struck a row home Sunday afternoon.

Just after 1:30 p.m., companies were dispatched to the 500 block of Wiltshire Road for a reported dwelling fire.

Deputy Chief John Calamia quickly arrived on location, reporting smoke showing and transmitted the working fire dispatch.

Engine 36 arrived and stretched an 1¾” attack line for a fire in the kitchen, as Truck 37 began searches and ventilation, officials said.

The Cardington-Stonehurst, Garrettford-Drexel Hill, Llanerch, Manoa and Darby stations were also in the response.

The flames were “knocked” in minutes with no extension outside of the kitchen, and no injuries reported. The incident was placed under control within 20 minutes, officials said.
