Warren, PA – Paws Along the River Humane Society held its first-ever community dog walk in Warren County, giving all 22 of the shelter’s remaining dogs a chance to get outside ahead of the incoming winter weather.

Just last week, the shelter was at maximum capacity with 50 dogs. Strong community support helped many of them get adopted, leaving 22 dogs still in Paws’ care. Volunteers gathered to walk those dogs several blocks through downtown Warren.

“This is the first time it’s ever happened. We decided to try it last nice day for a while. We thought we’d take advantage of the nice weather and it worked out for the best. We had way more people than we had dogs to hand out. Today was all around a wonderful day,” said Jodi Hollabaugh, director of Paws Along the River.

By the end of the event, several dog-walking applications and adoption forms had been filled out, making the walk an effort the shelter hopes to repeat in the future.

Paws Along the River will also host a “Pets with Santa Claus” photo event on Saturday, November 29th, from 11:00AM until 2:30PM at its Elm Street location. Photos will cost $20.00, with all proceeds benefiting the Humane Society.
