A new independently-owned and operated laundromat in Quakertown features upgraded machines, convenient hours and a whole lot more, thanks to the vision of owner Kyle Behmlander.
Behmlander, who also owns Saucon Valley Laundromat on Rt. 378 and two other nearby laundromats, opened Quakertown Laundromat in the Quaker Village Shopping Center in the borough’s downtown in early November.
Quakertown Laundromat is the latest addition to the downtown Quakertown business community. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laundromat opened Nov. 6 in a renovated commercial unit in the Quaker Village Shopping Center.
He said the unit was previously home to another laundromat. After signing a lease for the space, he overhauled the facility, installing new app-controlled Speed Queen washing machines and dryers, new flooring, new signage and an automatic sliding door so customers carrying loads of laundry can enter and exit the laundromat more easily.
A Center Valley resident, Behmlander is an involved business owner who oversees the maintenance of his equipment and works hard to ensure customer satisfaction in all of his stores by being responsive if and when an issue arises.
“What helps so much is just being here, getting to know my customers,” he explained.
“I’m trying to turn an old-school type of business into new-school, but with old-school customer service,” he said of his overall approach to operating his laundromats.

Behmlander added that he is excited to be part of the downtown Quakertown business community, which is home to dozens of locally-owned and operated establishments.
One of the advantages Quakertown Laundromat customers enjoy is savings when they download and use the free Speed Queen app for iPhone and Android devices.
Quakertown Laundromat customers can save money by using the Speed Queen app, which allows them to earn reward points every time they do their wash.
In addition to receiving a $5 reward for creating a new account in the app (use the location code QTown1 when prompted), customers also earn points whenever they wash. After spending $100 they receive a $5 in-app credit, and for every $50 they load onto the app they receive a $5 bonus.
Customers who do their laundry at Quakertown Laundromat Wednesdays and Thursdays also earn double rewards points.
For those who still prefer to pay for the use of the machines with quarters, cash is also accepted at Quakertown Laundromat, which is conveniently open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Quakertown Laundromat is located at 309 W. Broad St., Quakertown, PA 18951, next to Dominick’s Pizza. There is free parking in the shopping center lot and the business features a state-of-the-art security system to help ensure customer safety.
In addition to candy and snacks, the vending machine inside Quakertown Laundromat is stocked with laundry detergent, dryer sheets, laundry bags and other items people washing clothes may need to purchase.
Tokens may be purchased with cash from a machine inside Quakertown Laundromat.
Each machine at Quakertown Laundromat can be controlled via the Speed Queen app, which customers can download for free.
The laundromat features a folding and sorting area with stools for customers.
