A former Campbell Soup Co. employee is suing the Camden-based food giant, alleging he was fired after blowing the whistle on a company vice president who mocked Campbell’s products and made racist remarks.

“We have sh– for f—ing poor people. Who buys our s—? I don’t buy Campbell’s products barely anymore,” Martin Bally, vice president and chief security officer for Campbell’s, allegedly said in a recording obtained by news station WDIV.

The recording was made by Robert Garza, a Michigan-based cybersecurity expert who worked remotely for Campbell’s in Camden until his dismissal earlier this year.

Court records show Garza filed a lawsuit on Nov. 20 against Campbell’s in Michigan’s Wayne County Circuit Court.

Garza claims his employment was terminated on Jan. 30, less than three weeks after he reported Bally’s comments to his direct supervisor.

“Bioengineered meat — I don’t wanna eat a piece of chicken that came from a 3-D printer,” Bally allegedly said, mocking Campbell’s soup ingredients, according to the WDIV report.

Bally, 54, also allegedly made derogatory comments about Indian coworkers and said he sometimes comes to work high on marijuana edibles, according to the complaint.

A spokesperson for Campbell’s Company said in an email on Tuesday that “the person alleged to be speaking on the recording works in IT and has nothing to do with how we make our food.”

A voicemail left for Bally on a cell number in his name was not immediately returned.

Garza’s attorneys are suing for an unspecified amount, saying their client has endured emotional, reputational and economic harm as a result of his termination.

News of the lawsuit prompted Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier to comment on X that the state’s Consumer Protection division is investigating the quality of Campbell’s products and “will demand an answer” from the soup giant.

Campbell’s on Tuesday released a statement to NJ Advance Media saying there’s nothing wrong with their products, and that Bally has been placed on leave pending a company investigation.

“We are proud of the food we make, the people who make it and the high-quality ingredients we use. We know that millions of people use Campbell’s products, and we’re honored by the trust they put in us,” the statement said.

“The comments made about our food are completely inaccurate and absurd. We use 100% real chicken in our soups,” Campbell’s said.

“The chicken meat comes from long-trusted, USDA approved U.S. suppliers and meets our high quality standards. All of our soups are made with No Antibiotics Ever chicken meat. Any claims to the contrary are completely false,” the statement said.
