There’s a fun way to raise money for charity this season—and it involves throwing snowballs at Santa.
Philadelphia law firm Zarwin Baum has been putting together fundraising efforts during major sporting events for decades, and in 2025, the group has decided to set its sights on an Eagles tailgate and watch party for the Monday Night Football clash against the Los Angeles Chargers on Dec. 8.
The funds from the event will go to support Easterseals to help aid their mission to provide essential services for children and adults with disabilities, older adults, veterans, and their families.
“The passion of Eagles fans runs deep — it’s about pride, connection, and community,” says Mitchell Kaplan, Managing Shareholder of Zarwin Baum. “Those same values inspire our firm’s long-standing commitment to giving back. After years of success with our March Madness event supporting Philabundance, we’re excited to bring that spirit into football season with Monday Night Madness.”
The fun kicks off at 5 p.m. on Dec. 8 and will run through the duration of the game at Sports & Social at Live! Casino & Hotel. All proceeds from ticket sales, the raffle, special activities, and a silent auction will go to the good cause, but locals will additionally have an interesting way to celebrate the evening with the chance to throw fake snowballs at Santa Claus for a photo opportunity.
The experience is a play on the well-known incident from a 1968 game against the Minnesota Vikings. As the story goes, the incident occurred because the hired Santa couldn’t make the halftime show due to snow, so a 20-year-old fan named Frank Olivo was recruited to fill in. The home team was having a terrible season, and frustrated fans pelted the stand-in Santa with snowballs. Many say the incident has been sensationalized by sports fans and media for the past 57 years, and this year’s fundraiser offers a playful nod to the now-infamous occurrence in Philadelphia.
“We’re super excited to host this fundraiser and networking event/watch party featuring the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, who are leading the NFC East as we head toward the playoffs,” adds Kaplan. “We’re excited to cheer on the Birds alongside a large crowd of charitable Philly sports fanatics who are hoping for another Super Bowl victory this February.”
As a release notes, admission includes unlimited food, three drink tickets, a halftime hotdog cart, commemorative Christmas cookies, a holiday drink, access to the tailgate and the ability to watch the Eagles game on the 4,000 square-foot TV screen. VIP tickets also include prime, reserved seating in “the best seats in the house.” The menu includes cheesesteaks, wings, and much more, including many Philly favorites.
