U. SAUCON TWP., Pa. – Monday night at approximately 9:15 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on Flint Hill Road, just east of the intersection with Forest Drive.
A recent press release from the Upper Saucon Township Police Department revealed further details of the accident.
According to the operator, the vehicle was traveling eastbound at approximately 30 mph when the tires—described by the operator as being in “poor condition”—lost traction.
The car subsequently spun sideways and collided with a utility pole on the opposite side of the roadway.
A nearby resident reported hearing a loud screeching sound followed immediately by a crash.
Upon inspection of the scene, investigators observed that the vehicle’s tires were found to be significantly worn.
Police say a 20-year-old man sustained a head injury and was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest by ambulance. A woman, 22, sustained an undetermined injury and was also transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest by ambulance.
Responders say the final person reported injured was a 21-year-old man, who became entrapped between the vehicle and the utility pole. Fire personnel from Upper and Lower Saucon Fire Departments conducted the extrication. He was subsequently transported to St. Luke’s Hospital–Fountain Hill by Upper Saucon EMS.
The car, which sustained disabling damage after wrapping around the utility pole, was removed by tow truck, according to officials.
Flint Hill Road was temporarily closed while first responders and investigators worked to secure the area.
This incident remains under investigation by the Upper Saucon Township Police Department. No additional information is available at this time.
