INDIANA, Pa. — The IUP women’s basketball team is off to a dominant 5-0 start, outscoring opponents by an average of 32.8 points per game. The Crimson Hawks have already taken down two top-20 teams this season, with both wins coming at the KCAC.

IUP opened it’s home schedule with an 83-67 victory over No. 16 Ashland, then followed with a commanding 97-53 win against No. 11 Fairmont State to close its pre-Thanksgiving slate.

In those two games against ranked opponents, senior Nyshae’ Weaver recorded a pair of double-doubles, averaging 20 points and 10.5 rebounds. Teresa Maggio delivered a standout performance against Ashland, knocking down four of seven 3-point attempts, and added two more 3s against Fairmont State. She is also a perfect 12-for-12 at the free-throw line this season.

Marin Miller posted a season-high eight assists against Fairmont State, the most by any Crimson Hawk so far. Senior Ellie Wilkerson reached a career milestone in the same game, scoring her 1,000th career point.

IUP returns to action Dec. 5 in a PSAC East-West crossover game at Kutztown.
