N. WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – The North Whitehall Township Planning Commission approved a preliminary housing development plan Tuesday night.

The proposal, called Rising Sun, calls for 105 single-family homes on 102 acres at 1321 Rising Sun Road in Laurys Station, between Fells Creek and the Lehigh River. Currently, the land is used for agriculture.

The plan, offered by Access Commercial Development, contains open space between the homes and the nearby Fells Creek and Lehigh River. The open space was a change from a previous version and was added to mollify residents’ concerns about potential stormwater runoff into the creek and river.

Tuesday night’s approval included nine waivers and imposed several conditions.
