Dropping Temps and Gusty Winds Ahead of Thanksgiving
WERE SHOWING WITH YOUR ACTION CAMS THIS MORNING. BUT OVERALL, THE BIG STORY TODAY IS GOING TO BE THE WINDY CONDITIONS AND THE DROPPING TEMPERATURES FOR THE AFTERNOON. AND CHECK THIS OUT THANKSGIVING DAY. IT’S GOING TO FEEL LIKE IN THE MORNING 15 TO 20 DEGREES. THOSE WIND CHILLS ARE GOING TO BE VERY LOW AND COLD. AND THAT’S GOING TO FEEL LIKE IN THE TEENS TO 20 DEGREES. EVEN AS WE HEAD INTO OUR BLACK FRIDAY. RIGHT NOW, THOUGH, THOSE SHOWERS ARE VERY LIGHT AND SPOTTY IN MOST OF THE AREA. BUT THERE IS A BAND OF SOME STEADIER RAIN JUST STARTING TO EXIT OUT OF LAWRENCE COUNTY, CLIPPING INTO PORTIONS OF MERCER COMING UP INTO SOUTHERN PARTS OF VENANGO JUST SOUTH OF OIL CITY ALONG ROUTE EIGHT, AND JUST COMING INTO SLIPPERY ROCK AREA. SO WE DO HAVE A BAND OF SOME POCKET OF SOME HEAVIER RAINFALL. IT’S KNOCKING THOSE TEMPERATURES DOWN JUST A COUPLE DEGREES RIGHT NOW. FEELS LIKE THE ACTUAL TEMPERATURES ARE INTO THE LOW TO MID 50S AROUND THE AREA. AGAIN. THE WINDS WILL BE PICKING UP AROUND LUNCHTIME AS THAT COLD FRONT APPROACHES WILL BE GUSTING IN THE LOW TO MID 30S AS WE CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY, BUT WE WILL GET SOME SUNSHINE, SO THAT’S A POSITIVE NOTE FOR US. BUT BOY THOSE WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO PICK UP AND WE DO HAVE A WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7:00 THE THURSDAY EVENING, ESPECIALLY IN THOSE HIGHER ELEVATIONS EAST. IT WILL EXPIRE AROUND 11 A.M. INTO EASTERN PORTIONS OF WESTMORELAND AND FAYETTE COUNTY. AND THEN WE WILL HAVE SOME SNOW NORTH OF THE CITY, ESPECIALLY UP ALONG I-80. AND THAT’S WHY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS PUT A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY UP INTO MERCER. AND ONLY VENANGO COUNTY UNTIL 7:00 FRIDAY EVENING. WE’RE GOING TO TIME THIS ALL OUT HERE ON FUTURECAST. SO I WANT TO PUT THE TEMPERATURES ON HERE TO SHOW YOU HOW MUCH WE’RE GOING TO DROP. STILL REMAINING INTO THE LOW 50S AROUND 11 12:00. AS THAT FRONT SWEEPS THROUGH, WE WILL SEE SOME SUN, BUT THEN THE TEMPERATURES DROP. SO WE’LL BE INTO THE UPPER 30S AND LOW 40S. IT’S GOING TO FEEL LIKE WE’RE INTO THE 20S IN SOME SPOTS. WE’LL CONTINUE TO SEE OUR TEMPERATURES DIP DOWN INTO THE 20S. EARLY THANKSGIVING MORNING, WIND CHILLS INTO THE UPPER TEENS AND LOW 20S. PAY ATTENTION TO THAT SNOW, THOUGH, WITH A WESTERLY WIND AND MOVING OVER THE WARM GREAT LAKES, IT’S GOING TO PRODUCE SOME LAKE EFFECT SNOW RIGHT NOW, AND IT’S BEEN PRETTY CONSISTENT. THE BANDS LOOK TO STAY NORTH OF I-80 FOR MOST OF THANKSGIVING DAY. CAN’T SAY. NOT SAYING YOU WON’T HAVE A FLURRY OR TWO, BUT MOST OF THE ACCUMULATING SNOW LOOKS TO BE UP ALONG I-80 AS WE GET INTO THE OVERNIGHT AND BLACK FRIDAY, WE COULD START TO SEE SOME OF THESE BANDS TRYING TO DIP DOWN INTO BUTLER, ARMSTRONG, AND INDIANA, PUTTING A QUICK COATING ON THE GROUND AND STAYING INTO THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. YOU ALSO COULD SEE A FEW FLAKES INTO WASHINGTON COUNTY ON BLACK FRIDAY, SO KEEP THAT IN MIND. STILL DOESN’T LOOK LIKE A WHOLE LOT, BUT OVERALL, MOST OF THAT ACCUMULATION WILL STAY UP ALONG I-80, WHERE YOU COULD SEE UP TO THREE INCHES, AND WE COULD SEE A LIGHT DUSTING. MAY EVEN NOTICE A LITTLE BIT OF A LIGHT ACCUMULATION INTO WASHINGTON, EVEN INTO ARMSTRONG AND INDIANA. SO SOMETHING WE’LL BE WATCHING AS THOSE BANDS WILL TRY TO DIP DOWN A LITTLE FURTHER SOUTH AS WE HEAD INTO OUR FRIDAY. HERE’S SUNDAY THOUGH, STARTING OFF WITH SOME SNOW AROUND 6:00 7:00 QUICKLY WARMS UP AND CHANGES OVER TO A COLD RAIN. LOOKS TO BE OUT OF HERE PRETTY QUICKLY. COULD BE OUT OF HERE BEFORE THE STEELERS GAME, BUT IT IS GOING TO BE SOGGY IF YOU ARE TAILGATING AND IT IS GOING TO GET MUCH COLDER FOR US AS WE GET INTO NEXT WEEK. SO IT IS AN IMPACT DAY ON SUNDAY AS WE’LL HAVE LIGHT SNOW CHANGING OVER TO RAIN. IT’S ALSO A BIG TRAVEL DAY AS FOLKS ARE COMING HOME FROM THE HOLIDAY. WE WILL STAY D
