Two Allentown men will face trial on charges alleging they killed a 24-year-old man last month in Allentown.

Jason Gonzalez, 25, and Garfield McLean Jr., 30, are charged in the Oct. 1 death of Jahlik Colon, of Temple, Berks County, according to Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan.

After a preliminary hearing Tuesday, a district judge determined there was enough evidence for the case to move to Lehigh County Court, the DA said in a news release.

Allentown police said Colon was shot, and a nearby man was almost shot, in the doorway of an apartment in the 100 block of North Eighth Street.

Investigators, using surveillance footage and license plate readers, saw Gonzalez’s vehicle in the area before the shooting, charging documents state.

Gonzalez was seen getting out of the vehicle and running to the area, and then heading back to the car after the shooting, police said. McLean was driving the vehicle as Gonzalez fled the scene, the DA said.

The two men, who were arrested later that day, are charged with homicide and related offenses. They remain in Lehigh County Jail without bail.
