One of the more visible office buildings in Whitehall Township has been sold to one of its tenants.
The Sunburst Office Plaza at 1541 Alta Drive, which houses radio stations WABE AM 790 and FM 104.1, 95.1 WZZO and other iHeart broadcasters, was recently sold for $5 million, according to Lehigh County property records.
Motorists exiting Lehigh Valley Mall and MacArthur Road to Route 22 west have likely noticed the building along the ramp with signs for the radio stations and other businesses on the facade.
The buyer is Lehigh Crest LLC, which has its address listed on the second floor of the 40,000-square-foot building. The limited liability company has the same suite as Person Directed Supports, a nonprofit organization that provides resources and support to people with intellectual disabilities.
Allentown-based Sunburst Property Management was the previous owner. Harris Weinstein, who founded the company, bought the property in 1978 for $2.1 million and built the four-story structure in 1984.
Weinstein, who died in 2014, was best known as the former CEO of Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom.
