Winter weather is slowing things down across the region. PennDOT has temporarily reduced speed limits to 45 miles per hour on Interstates 79, 86, and 90 in Erie County.

Vehicle restrictions are also in place under Tier 1 of the state’s weather event plan. That means certain vehicles—such as unloaded trucks, trailers, RVs, and motorcycles—are not allowed on affected roads.

PennDOT is urging drivers to avoid unnecessary travel. However, if you must head out, commercial vehicles that are not restricted should stay in the right lane.

Crews are actively treating roadways, but officials warn that highways will not be completely clear of ice and snow until the storm passes.
