The Philadelphia Phillies will have a lot of difficult decisions to make this offseason. Whether it’s the re-signing of Kyle Schwarber, JT Realmuto, or the players they pursue on the open market, it’s bound to be a busy winter for the Phillies.

But one of the more underrated aspects of the offseason plans for the Phillies is what the team decides to do with some of their aging players. While Nick Castellanos is a widely reported trade candidate, there are a few others who could also be traded.

Todd Zolecki of MLB.com identified five players, including Castellanos, whom the Phillies could look to trade this offseason. Other than Castellanos, four other fan-favorite players could be on the move this offseason.

Phillies could look to trade five players this offseason, according to Todd Zolecki

“The Phillies have tried to trade Alec Bohm…” Zolecki writes. “Bryson Stott and Brandon Marsh would be attractive to teams looking for Major League talent. A reliever like Matt Strahm could be dealt, although he has been their most reliable lefty in the Phillies’ pen the past three years.”

Alec Bohm is one of the more obvious Phillies trade candidates this offseason. He’s been mentioned in trade talks before during the previous offseason, and could once again be in trade talks this winter. He’s in the final year of control.

Bryson Stott and Brandon Marsh are by far the two most interesting options for the Phillies to trade this winter. While both are fan-favorites, the Phillies will be losing both to free agency after 2027, giving them just two years of control left.

But most importantly, neither has been as good as the Phillies have hoped. What makes their potential trades a lot more feasible is that the Phillies have options in the minor leagues, infielder Aidan Miller and outfielder Justin Crawford, who could take over their roles on the Major League club.

Stott and Marsh were mainstays of the Phillies’ lineup over the last four years, and while they still provide value, the Phillies could look to move on from them to bolster other areas of the roster or replace them for an upgrade like Ketel Marte or Jarren Duran.

Castellanos and Strahm are the final two names mentioned, and their trade odds couldn’t be further apart. Castellanos is all but gone, as it would be “surprising” according to Zolecki if he were still on the team next year.

Strahm, meanwhile, has one year left on his contract, but has been the Phillies’ best left-handed reliever these last few seasons. Jose Alvarado or Tanner Banks are better trade candidates, as finding a reliever like Strahm won’t be easy.

All five are players worth keeping an eye on this winter in trade talks, with Castellanos and Bohm as the most likely to be dealt by Dave Dombrowski this offseason.
