Thomas M. Downey
OBITUARY
Thomas M Downey, 66, passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida. He was the son of the late Thomas Downey and Ann (Haughney) Downey.
Born and raised in Reading, Pennsylvania, Tom attended Reading Central Catholic High School and went on to study Commerce and Engineering at Drexel University. He built a successful career, leading several companies in the Reading area.
Tom raised his children in Pennsylvania before retiring to Florida, where he enjoyed his home, the beach, and community. He loved volunteering his time and was always happiest when surrounded by friends and family.
Tom was larger than life—full of laughter, a big kid at heart, and fiercely protective of the people he loved most. To him, family was everything.
He is survived by his three children: Jillian Gullo, her husband Andy Gullo, and their newborn daughter—Tom’s first grandchild, Sloane Gullo; his sons, Aiden Downey and Logan Downey; his siblings James “J.D.” Downey and wife Jacqulyn of Reading; Ann “Missy” Ortiz of Reading; and Rita Downey of Reading.
Although his time with us ended far too soon, his joy, humor, and love will live on in all of us.
