A Berks County business and nonprofit organization are teaming up to create special holiday food boxes aimed at people interested in eating local.
Box of Berks and the Berks Agricultural Resource Network (BARN) have launched a “Give Back Box” project. The effort is meant to celebrate and strengthen the region’s vibrant local food community.
The food boxes are targeted at locavore and future locavores, showcasing flavors from local small businesses and microbusinesses. There are two unique boxes to choose from, with each curated to highlight tastes of the county’s finest local products and beautifully packaged to be ready for gift-giving, officials said.
Ten percent of each box sold will be donated to BARN to help advance its mission and programs.
“By purchasing a Give Back Box, customers are doing more than giving a thoughtful, local gift,” a statement announcing the launch of the boxes read. “They are actively investing in the agricultural community that nourishes Berks County and supporting the farmers and food businesses who embody the heart of our region.”
For more information or to purchase a box visit berksag.org/barngivebackboxes.html. Delivery is available throughout Berks.
