Through two quarters of the NFL’s “Black Friday” contest, the Chicago Bears have a 10-3 edge over the Philadelphia Eagles. They took a lead into the locker room, large in part due to the lopsided advantage Chicago has enjoyed on third down.Â
The Bears had little problem converting on the critical down, moving the chains on seven of their 10 opportunities. That allowed them to begin the game with three straight drives of 10-plus plays, which helped them build their lead. Meanwhile, it’s been the polar opposite for Philadelphia as the offense continues to look out of sync. The Eagles have converted on just one of their five third-down opportunities.Â
One of the key reasons for the Bears’ success on third down was due to their superb rushing attack. D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai spearheaded a lethal push on the ground as Chicago piled up 142 yards and a touchdown in the first half. Naturally, that helped give them a dominant advantage in time of possession and maintain this one-score lead.Â
Will the Bears continue to ground and pound their way to a victory? Or will the Eagles make the necessary corrections and mount a comeback in the second half? As we find out, check out our live blog of all the action featured by our expert analysis and real-time highlights.Â
