BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs staff stepped off their normal field at Coca-Cola Park and into the community. They spent the day helping North Bethlehem Little League give one of its fields some much-needed renovation.

“I think the kids are going to love it,” Dana Reaser says.

It’s all part of the IronPigs annual tradition of restoring youth baseball fields around the region.

Aaron Weisberg, Manager of Community Relations for the IronPigs says, “We have done this since the IronPigs have been in existence in 2008, and this is another Little League to add to our list.”

Dozens of IronPigs staffers and North Bethlehem Little League volunteers took time out of their day to paint, rake and rebuild the field; transforming it into a safer, smoother place for young players.

“So in total we are in the 40s. Our entire staff comes out for the day, works, and Bethlehem Little League was nice enough to have some of their staff as well,” Weisberg says.

“We were very excited because we know the IronPigs’ fields look great,” Dana Reaser says. “So when we found out their whole crew was coming out here, we just, we knew that it was going to be a good day.”

Dana Reaser, President of the North Bethlehem Little League, says that the league’s facilities team decided that this field was the one that needed the most love.

“They’re sod-cutting the fields, clearing out the weeds, and I think it’s just going to be a good overhaul for the kids to enjoy when they come and play here,” Reaser added.

It’s more than just a field renovation. The IronPigs say it’s about giving back to the communities that support them all season long.

“Seeing the reactions of my first two years of the kids playing on the field when they first get to come here, it is unbelievable, and I can’t really put into words what it means,” Weisberg added.
