WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – It’s the biggest shopping time of the year, with Black Friday kicking it all off.

The National Retail Federation predicts a record breaking weekend — with nearly 187 million people shopping in stores and online through Monday.

That’s up three million shoppers from last year.

Black Friday shopping is in full swing.

“I got a lot of sweaters, like all the deals are really good this year,” says Amanda Brown of Allentown.

“We love the vibes.. the decorations are always gorgeous, the camaraderie is nice. People are just nice and pleasant,” said Mickey O’Hagan of New York City.

From the Lehigh Valley Mall to the Promenade Saucon Valley — people braved the cold outside to shop inside, in person.

“I like personally holding all the bags and just seeing and trying on what I get in person instead of ordering, cause then I have to return everything and then it’s just a whole hassle,” said Brooke Dillman of Orwigsburg.

“Online shopping is fun, but not as fun as this. Here you can get a drink, see the people,” said Mercy Thomas of Allentown.

And for many, Black Friday is about more than just buying gifts.

“We’ve been doing Black Friday shopping since they could walk, so they always get some Christmas money early so this is a fun day,” said Todd Bergey of Center Valley.

“We enjoy just making the memories together. You don’t make memories when you’re shopping online so this is definitely really fun to get to do together,” said Austin Bergey of Florida.
