Pittsburgh: Cold today, snow/rain and an Impact Day tomorrow

Snow begins late tonight and will change to rain by mid-morning Sunday.

A LOT TO GET DONE IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS. TODAY WOULD BE A GOOD DAY TO GET OUT, GET SOME OF THAT SHOPPING DONE, MAYBE HEAD TO A FOOTBALL GAME BECAUSE THE WEATHER WHILE IT’S COLD, IT’S AT LEAST DRY. WE CAN MANAGE THE COLD, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE SUN IS OUT, THE WINDS A LITTLE BIT LIGHTER AS WELL, SNOW STAYING AWAY. BUT WE’RE NOT GOING TO GET THROUGH THE END OF THIS THANKSGIVING WEEKEND. COMPLETELY EASY GOING. OF COURSE, WE DO HAVE AN IMPACT DAY TOMORROW AS I’M TIMING IN SNOW THAT WILL BE CHANGING OVER TO RAIN. GOOD NEWS THOUGH FOR FOOTBALL FANS. WHETHER YOU’RE HEADING TO PITT TODAY, THE STEELERS TOMORROW, THINGS WILL BE DRY FOR BOTH GAMES, BUT IT WILL BE A LITTLE LATER ON THIS EVENING, ESPECIALLY AS WE GET CLOSER TO 9:00 WITH SOME OF THOSE FLAKES START TO SHOW UP. AND FOR EARLY MORNING TRAVELERS TOMORROW, THAT’S WHERE THINGS COULD GET A LITTLE HAIRY IN SOME LOCATIONS. I’LL HELP YOU PLAN AHEAD HERE IN JUST A MOMENT. FOR THE TIME BEING, THOUGH, IT’S COLD TO START TEMPERATURES FOR THE MOST PART IN THE MID TO EVEN UPPER 20S IN THE CHILLIER SPOTS. RIGHT NOW, WASHINGTON AND UNIONTOWN. WE HAVE 28 RIGHT NOW FOR THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH, ALSO IN GREENSBURG, NEARING 30 ALREADY IN BEAVER AND NEW CASTLE. HERE’S A LIVE LOOK OVER THE NORTH SHORE. YOU CAN SEE ACRISURE STADIUM THERE. SUNSHINE STARTING TO COME THROUGH, BUT CLOUDS WILL BUILD BACK IN, ESPECIALLY AS THE GAME BETWEEN PITT AND MIAMI UNFOLDS THIS AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES, THOUGH STILL PEAKING ONLY IN THE MID 30S. AND THEN PRETTY QUICKLY WE’LL WATCH THOSE NUMBERS OR NUMBERS START TO FALL AS WE GO A LITTLE LATER ON TONIGHT. SO STILL A COLD ONE, BUT IT’S AT LEAST NICE TO SEE THE SUN TODAY. LATER ON THIS EVENING, AS WE PUSH PAST ABOUT NINE AT 10:00, THAT’S WHEN SOME OF THOSE SNOW SHOWERS WILL START TO KICK IN. YOUR SUNDAY BEGINS WITH AN IMPACT DAY AS WE’LL SEE SNOW THROUGH ABOUT, LET’S SAY, 8:00, 9:00, AND THEN WE START TO SEE THE TRANSITION OVER TO RAIN AS TEMPERATURES EDGE CLOSE TO 40 DEGREES COLDER, THOUGH, AS WE KICK OFF THE MONTH OF DECEMBER. HARD TO BELIEVE WE’RE FLIPPING THE CALENDAR ON MONDAY. YET ANOTHER IMPACT DAY ON TUESDAY FOR MORE AREA WIDE SNOW SHOWERS THAT ACTUALLY COULD STICK THIS TIME AROUND. IN TERMS OF SNOW, THOUGH, COMING IN LATER ON TONIGHT, EXPECTING AROUND A HALF INCH, MAYBE AN INCH IN MOST SPOTS ACROSS THE AREA AS YOU HEAD FARTHER NORTH. NORTH OF I-80, THAT’S WHERE TRAVEL COULD BE A LITTLE BIT TRICKIER. COULD BE TALKING ABOUT THREE INCHES OF SNOW BEFORE THINGS ARE ALL SAID AND DONE. BUT AGAIN, THAT SNOW, SHORT LIVED AS RAIN WILL BE COMING IN TO THE PICTURE. WE’RE FAST FORWARDING TOWARDS 10:00 TONIGHT. YOU CAN SEE THOSE SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS ALL NORTH OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY. SO AGAIN, SOME TRAVEL CONDITIONS COULD BECOME A LITTLE BIT TREACHEROUS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE OUT LATE TONIGHT AS THE SNOW STARTS TO FALL AND THOSE ROAD TEMPERATURES ARE RIGHT AROUND THE FREEZING MARK. AREA WIDE FLURRY ACTIVITY COMES IN WHILE YOU’RE SLEEPING TONIGHT, HEADING INTO DAYBREAK TOMORROW. HERE’S 10:00 IN THE MORNING, TEMPERATURES ALREADY WARM ENOUGH THAT WILL JUST SEE RAIN COMING THROUGH. AND PRETTY QUICKLY THAT RAIN WILL BE EXITING THROUGH THE LAUREL HIGHLANDS. TALKING ABOUT THE EARLY PARTS OF THE AFTERNOON. SO CERTAINLY A BETTER FORECAST AS THINGS WILL BE DRYING OUT IN TIME FOR THE STEELERS AND BILLS GAME. BUT TEMPERATURES WILL BE TUMBLING MORE THAN LIKELY LOW TO EVEN MID 30S AND A BIT OF A WIND AS WELL. AS WE CLOSE OUT THIS THANKSGIVING WEEKEND OVER TO YOUR 4-DAY PLUS 4 MORE FORECAST. HIGH TEMPERATURES PART LOW TO EVEN MID 30S NEXT WEEK. THAT NEXT IMPACT DAY ON TUESDAY, WE DO STAND THE CHANCE TO SEE SOME ACCUMULATING SNOW RIGHT NOW. LOOKS TO BE ABOUT 1 TO 2IN, BUT OF COURSE WE’LL CONTINUE TO FINE TUNE THAT FORECAST ONCE WE GET THROUGH TOMORROW’S IMPACT DAY. ANOTHER DOSE OF FLURRY ACTIVITY COMES IN ON THURSDAY. LOWS, THOUGH, COULD BE ON THE. WAKING UP IN THE TEENS COME FRIDAY. SO STILL VERY WINTERY SET UP. AND IT’S LIKE ALL OF A SUDDEN WE GET INTO THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT. AND SO THE COLD TEMPERATURES HERE ACROSS WESTERN PA DECEMBER SHOWS UP AND SO DOES THE SNOW. RIGHT? EXACTLY. I KNOW SOME PEOPLE, THEY’VE BEEN KIND OF WAITING ANXIOUSLY. I KNOW A LOT OF THE SKI RESORTS KIND OF USING SOME OF THESE COLD TEMPERATURES TO GET THINGS MOVING ALO
