Upper Darby High School received a threat Friday that the school would be bombed by drones.

District Superintendent Dr. Dan McGarry, in a notice sent to families, said Upper Darby police received a tip indicating a bomb threat to the outside of the building.

The threat actually indicated that the school would be bombed by drones.

The school went into a lock-in out of an abundance of caution in coordination with the Upper Darby police, who responded to the high school and also provided drone coverage.

Police confirmed there was no threat the outside of the building, at which time the school moved into a lockout and then returned to regular school operations for the rest of the day.

The school was also a victim of a threat Sept. 19 that police for the report of bomb. It also turned out to be unfounded.

McGarry said while the anonymous threats continue to disrupt the learning environment for students, the district will continue to treat all threats seriously and follow emergency procedures.
